November 28, 2024 • by Scoreboard

Six teams have won through to the NCAA Division II Regionals. Find out who is one step closer to competing at PGA National Resort in Florida (men) and Boulder Creek in Nevada (women) next year, and how they qualified.

Men
Northeast-10 Conference

Southern New Hampshire University’s first three tournament results of the Fall were 1-1-3, so they headed into the Northeast-10 Conference Championship brimming with confidence about claiming a first NE10 title since 2018. The Penmen duly wrapped up a fifth conference championship win in program history with something to spare, triumphing by 15 shots over Adelphi. Senior Jack Pepin almost made it a clean sweep but he lost out on the individual honors on the third playoff hole to Adelphi freshman Mitchell Archer

Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference

With five wins this Fall, Gannon University men’s team is one of the winningest in the country. At Iron Valley Golf Club they ended a 16-year wait for a first ever PSAC Championship win. Gannon hit the front in the first round and never relinquished its lead, stretching away to triumph by 40 shots. A closing team total of four under par included three sub-par rounds by its four counting players. The Golden Knights’ Italian sophomore  Mattia Perrini finished with a 68 (-4) to claim the individual title by four over teammate and countryman Giovanni Delorenzi.

Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference

After 36 holes of the CACC Championship in early October, Goldey-Beacom College men’s team was tied with hosts Wilmington (DE). A closing team total of 317 (+19) eased them five clear of their co-leaders and four ahead of eventual runners-up Dominican (NY), whose fifth year student Alexander Lundvall took the individual honors on three over. The win was one of four for Coach TJ Dekmar’s team in the Fall season.

Mountain East Conference

Charleston (West Virginia) secured a narrow, two-shot win over West Liberty and Davis & Elkins at the Glade Springs Resort in West Virginia. The Golden Eagles went wire to wire at the Mountain East Conference Championship, ending on 26 over par after a final round of 300 (+12). West Liberty’s Brogan Bennett was the individual medalist, recording a 54-hole total of level par, which included a fine second round of 68 (-4). The Conference title was one of three tournament wins earned by Charleston (West Virginia) this season.

Women
Mountain East Conference

Glenville State University triumphed in a five-team field, claiming its second tournament win of the Fall Season at the Mountain East Conference Championship. The Pioneers held a 10-hot lead after the first round, an advantage they squandered in the second round before squeezing home by a single shot over Charleston (WV). GSU’s Kerri-Anne Cook took the individual honors on +10, one of four Glenville State players to finish inside the top 10.

Northeast-10 Conference

Franklin Pierce University’s women made the perfect start to its Fall Season, winning their first three events. They then made it four out of four by taking down the Northeast-10 Conference Championship by nine shots over Newhaven at Blackstone National GC in Massachusetts. Phisonlaya Ruayruen, a sophomore from Thailand, ended a run of three consecutive second places by scoring the fourth individual win of her career. She headed the field on six over par thru 36 holes.
