A round-up of the DIII men's award winners from the 2024/25 season. Congratulations to all those listed below on a fine season.
Jonathan McEwen is the first Washington and Lee golfer to receive the Nicklaus Award. The only NCAA Division III golfer with a 2024-25 scoring average below 70 (69.50), McEwen recorded five victories and two other top-five finishes during his sophomore campaign.
His wins included the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship, where he broke the tournament and school’s 54-hole scoring record (11-under 204), and his co-medalist honors at the Golfweek October Classic.
Ranked No. 1 via Scoreboard powered by Clippd, the Portsmouth, Va., native finished T10 at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship and was named PING First Team All-American for the second straight year.
Turner Chiles of Sewanee has been named the recipient of the 2025 NCAA Division III Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award presented by StrackaLine.
Chiles recorded five top-10 finishes, including tying for sixth at the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championship, and carded a 71.4 scoring average in his first season with the Tigers. The Houston, Texas, native is ranked 12th via Scoreboard powered by Clippd and earned SAA Co-Player of the Year, SAA Rookie of the Year, First Team All-SAA, and PING All-Region IV honors.
Coach Pete Gyscek earned Ohio Dominican Athletic Conference (ODAC) Jack Jensen Coach of the Year honors after propelling Washington and Lee to their first-ever No. 1 national rankings this season. The Generals claimed three victories, including the Golfweek October Classic and Savannah Invitational against 19 other top-44 teams, and five other top-four finishes this season.
They were led on the course by four PING All-Region IV golfers, including the 2025 NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus Award presented by Workday recipient Jonathan McEwen and ODAC Rookie of the Year Timothy Kaufman.
