Tournament Recap

Keiser wins by 16 shots

May 18, 2024 • by Jeff Melton

Keiser (Fla.) claimed the 2024 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship, winning by 16 strokes. The Seahawks led the event for the last 54 holes and were lifted by Hoi Ki Lau who won the individual crown. The 29th annual event was played at TPC Deere Run and hosted by Visit Quad Cities.

This was the Seahawks third team championship after they raised the Red Banner in 2016 and 2021 as well as their second individual championship as Ho Ki Lau joins former KU player Michela Tjan who claimed victory in 2019.

Oklahoma City finished in second place shooting a 292 final score, their lowest round of the week. They were only the second team to finish under 300 on the day. British Columbia, the winners of the previous two championships, finished in third place with a 301 final round.

During the final 18 holes, Marian (Ind.), Cumberlands (Ky.), and Loyola (La.) each moved up one position while Lindsey Wilson leaped up three places in the final standings.

Keiser's Hoi Ki Lau led the individual race. As she teed up on 18, she held a one shot lead over Paige Wood who was also in the final grouping. Ki Lau recorded a birdie and Wood recorded par, giving Keiser's number one golfer a two-stroke winning margin.

In addition to Ki Lau, four other competitors shot under par - Sidney Parmer of Marian (Ind.), Sydney Hermann of OUAZ (Ariz.) and Shayne Lim of Taylor (Ind.). The best round score was Paige Wood at six under to claim the Individual Runner-Up finish.
