A round up of standout team and individual performances in the week October 3-9.
Records fell at the Trinity Forest Invitational, with (below) setting a new school 18-hole scoring best in the second round with a 273 (-15). The Owls went on to finish tied first with Southern California on 32 under par, another program record, becoming the first ever Rice team to win consecutive tournaments.
Adding to Coach Justin Emil’s levels of satisfaction was the performance of Austrian senior (below) who set a new program 36-hole individual scoring record (132 /-12). In round two, shot a 62 (-10), setting a new single-round best by a Louisiana men’s golfer.
Boandl went on to finish co-medalist with of Houston (below), who eventually won in a playoff to claim the dub in his home town. Weibel’s final round 64 (-8) was a career low and just one stroke off tying the Cougars record. It earned him his second individual co-medalist performance of the season after the Argent Financial Classic (where, coincidentally, he tied with Malan Potgeiter).
has now played in three tournaments this fall, fielding an individual medalist or co-medalist in each.
At the Fighting Irish Classic, Oklahoma State was without three studs, who were competing at the World Amateur Team Championships. Redshirt freshman (below) wasted no time in staking his claim, however, with an opening round 65 (-5) that included an eagle and albatross in his closing nine holes.
finished at the top of the leaderboard after 54 holes while UNC freshman won the individual title with a 35-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole. The AJGA All-American becomes the 10th different individual to win medalist honors for Head Coach Andrew DiBitetto, earning the 21st individual win for a Tar Heel under his leadership.
Bertagnole (above) defeated Lance Simpson of Tennessee and Maxwell Tjoa of Iowa in the playoff. The latter was one of two players to record a hole in one at the short 4th in round one.
(above) picked up where they off at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate. A team final round 264 (-24) not only secured the 26-stroke victory, but also set a new program 18-hole scoring record.
Coach Mike Hagen’s team posted a 54-hole total of 823 (-41), just one stroke more than their huge victory highlighted in last week’s article. Four of the Red Wolves finished in the top-five in the individual standings with medalist (below) firing a program record 62 (-10) in the final round to clip teammate Thomas Schmidt by one stroke.
of Kansas had a first round to remember at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational, carding a bogey-free 63 (-8) to set a new women’s course record at Lawrence CC and tie the Jayhawks low 18-hole scoring record.
The Swedish sophomore was the only player to finish under par, winning the individual title by seven shots as Kansas defended home turf for the second year in a row.
In the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah, took the team title with an 832 (-32) total, the second best 54-hole total in program history. The Knights were led by (above) who secured her first individual collegiate victory.
In Denver, emerged victorious at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, earning back-to-back wins for the first time since 2018, and a second fall season success for the first time since 2014. ’s opening 65 (-7) tied the second-lowest round by a Vandy woman, as did the team’s first-round score of 271 (-17).
Vandy’s took medalist honors on 10 under par, the first Vandy player to win a tournament since Auston Kim in 2019. Rudisill finished one stroke ahead of teammate Ava Merrill and Yvonne Chamness of Texas State.
At the same tournament, of Wyoming equaled the lowest 18-hole score in Cowgirl history with an opening round of 67 (-5).
(above) defended home turf in record fashion. Lisa Forss (below) shot a bogey-free 62 (-10) in the second round of the Pirate Collegiate Classic to shatter the program single-round scoring record. The sophomore from Sweden finished the tournament at 12 under to take the win and set a new 54-hole individual record for the Pirates.
The 16-under-par 848 total posted by Coach Kevin Williams’ team was the second lowest in program history.
were victorious at the Bradley Coyote Creek Classic, shooting a program record 18-hole score (281/-7) in the second round. Sophomore won medalist honors, with a three-under-par 213 that matches the program record to par for a 54-hole event, a feat she also accomplished last season at the Redbird Fall Invitational.
At the Princeton Invitational, the home team ran out as comfortable winners. The tournament also saw setting a new school 54-hole scoring record (866/+14) with (below) finishing as co-medalist.
In DII, and (below) kept up their winning ways. The Bulldogs claimed their third straight victory of the season at the St Simons Intercollegiate with the dominant French sophomore, last season’s DII player of the year, earning her eighth individual win and second victory of the season. Bochaton’s collegiate win rate now stands at a stunning 50 per cent!
In DIII, reigning NCAA champions (below) turned it on in Pennsylvania at the Tartan Invitational, firing a program-record 274 (-14) and a 36-hole program-record 558 (-18).
Teammates and both shot 66 (-6), a new program low for an individual round, while Li, Code and junior Esther Jung all scored below 140 across both rounds to lower the previous school best.
At the Polar Bear Shootout, the were on song. (below) opened with a 67 (-6), which broke records she set at this same tournament and course last year, including her own school record for 18 holes and her own course record.
Her record did not last long, however, as teammate (below) shot second round 66 (-7) to claim both records for herself!
As a team, Williams shot a second-round 277 (-15) to finish at 22 under par overall, 31 shots clear of its nearest rival. In the process, the Ephs set new program team 18- and 36-hole scoring records. Cheong took medalist honors by one stroke over Michelle Ding and another teammate Euna Lee.
In the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championship, set a new team and conference championship 18-hole scoring record with a first round score of 292 (+4).
The Knights closed with a final-round 296 (+8) to finish with a three-day total of 886 (+22), the lowest 54-hole team score in MIAC Championship history, bettering the previous low team score by a full 18 shots.
