“The DIII Women's Championship assures that we stay mindful of the gift that is the game of golf”
— Marcus El, General Manager Scoreboard powered by Clippd
The final leaderboard told the story of a dominant victory by the nation's top ranked team. Carnegie Mellon won by 14 shots but that fails to tell the story of a dramatic day three.
Several teams came back Thursday morning to conclude round 2, which lasted more than 28 hours, and played as many as 29 holes on a gruelling day for all of the players, coaches and tournament staff.
Teams are no doubt there to win and hopefully take home a National Championship trophy or maybe even some hardware for outstanding individuals. But more importantly, in my mind, it's a celebration.
