Wake Forest women's team defeated #4 ranked South Carolina 3-2 in the first place match at the Old Barnwell Derby to extend the Deacons’ match play record to 16-2 since their 2023 National Championship at Grayhawk.
Graduate Sky Sload clinched the victory for Wake Forest with a 2&1 victory over Vairana Heck after Carolina Chacarra (below) and Anne-Sterre den Dunnen had put points on the board with wins over Louise Rydqvist and Hannah Darling.
Wake Forest defeated Auburn 3-2 in the first round and then took down the in-form Florida State in round two. Den Dunnen, who recently recorded a career best 5th place at the Moon Golf Invitational, finished the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record.
"This is the first time we've played at this tournament so to play as well as we did with this competition and on a venue like that is unbelievable," Head Coach Kim Lewellen told GoDeacs.com. "I'm proud of how they came down and worked when we needed either a half or a point. Every single person on the team contributed to the win and that always makes for a great drive back."
